Health and Safety Mission Statement

  1. General statement of health and safety principles.

It is Manchester Plasterers intention to provide a product, which is constructed as safely as possible and which provides safety in use, both for those who occupy it and those who maintain it.

  1. Management Structure and Responsibilities On and Off Site.

The Director of Manchester Plasterers, Stephen Tanswell has hands on                                                                            management of each construction project that the company undertakes. By direct management, MPL (Manchester Plasterers Limited) can ensure that Health and Safety policies are operated.

  1. Selection Procedures – Assessing Competence.

Generally MPL employ operatives who have a history with the company and have previously shown their competence. Our operatives are reviewed on a regular basis by the directorate and the site supervision.

  1. Health and Safety Training.

Steve Tanswell has undertaken CITB accreditation for site health and safety management, as well as being a trained first aider. He reviews the risks and hazards of each particular project, before having a meeting with the supervisor of the job and going through each of the salient points.

  1. P.P.E.

Personal Protective Equipment will be worn by all operatives.  After assessing the risks of a particular job then the supervisor will provide any P.P.E. deemed necessary by the operative doing the job or his own judgement.

  1. Self-Assessment.

All operatives working for MPL are advised to take 5 minutes before starting a job to assess the risks of that job.  After doing this they are advised to make adequate provision for their own health and safety as well as their colleagues and the general public at large by liaising with the management and directorate of MPL.
